Pat King who was one of the lead organizers of the “Freedom Convoy” that set up a three week protest on the streets of Ottawa in the winter of 2022 will stand trail on November 27.
King, a native of Sault Ste. Marie and Goulais Ontario was an influential figure in the convoy movement to protest Ottawa’s measures on COVID-19 and the Liberal government, wants a fair trail and is requesting that the trail be moved out of Ottawa. King feels that an Ottawa judge and jury would be too biased
King was known to post videos on social media accounts denouncing the Prime Minister and the Federal governments actions during the many “shutdowns” imposed due to COVID-19. King was also vocal calling on replacing the Prime Minister.
King has been charged with mischief, counselling to commit mischief, counselling to disobey a court order and counselling to obstruct police in connection to his actions during the protest.
He was also charged with perjury and obstruction of justice after taking the stand at his bail hearing.
Ontario Superior Court Justice Charles Hackland is expected to hear arguments on Aug. 21 from the Crown and King’s lawyer, Natasha Calvino, about the trial’s location and whether a jury should be allowed.
