17 Year Old Turns Themselves In

On July 21, 2023, officers with Patrol Services charged a 17-year-old youth with assault with a weapon, among other charges.

On July 19, 2023, 911 Communicators received a report of multiple youths involved in an altercation, possibly with weapons, in the 200 block of Bay Street. Upon arrival, the altercation had ended, and the suspect reported to have weapons had left the scene. Multiple witnesses identified the accused and reported they had exited a vehicle and ran at the victims with a large knife, causing minor injuries to two victims. Witnesses reported the accused had also kicked a vehicle, which caused damage, and threatened the victims by referring to a gun. Police attempted to locate the accused but were unable to find them.

On July 21, 2023, the accused attended the Police Services Building to turn themselves in. They were arrested.

The accused is charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon x4
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Uttering Threats x4
  • Mischief Under $5,000
  • Failure to Comply with Sentence x3

The accused was held for Weekend and Statutory Holiday court and subsequently released. They are scheduled to appear in court on August 15, 2023.

  1. How many people were involved in the surrender at the police station? It seems that in an attempt to suck up to the politically correct. the writer forgot what used to be a tenet of good journalism. That tenet being that a basic duty of a journalist was to write in a manner that adhered to basic rules of grammar and clarity.
