Strong Winds Expected Tonight

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Superior East region.

Almost Gale force winds are expected to develop into the early evening for areas north of Sault Ste. Marie to Wawa.

Strong southwest winds will develop late this afternoon with the strongest gusts expected near Lake Superior. Winds will shift to the northwest and ease slightly late this evening. Utility outages may occur. Loose objects may be tossed and cause injury or damage.

Strong winds are also expected in the city of Sault Ste. Marie tonight and into Friday. Sault Ste. Marie has not been included in the special weather statement however winds are expected to become quite strong with wind gusts to 45 km/h.
