Speeding On McNabb Street Nets Impaired Charge

On August 20, 2023, shortly after 1:00 a.m., members from the Sault Ste Marie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol duties and travelling westbound on McNabb Street in the City of Sault Ste Marie.

Police observed an eastbound vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on McNabb Street and initiated a traffic stop. While speaking to the driver police determined alcohol had been consumed. The driver refused to provide a breath sample and was  transported to Sault Ste Marie detachment.

As a result, Matthew DUMOULIN, 33 years-of-age from Sault Ste Marie was charged with:

  • Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand
  • Operation While Impaired-Alcohol and Drugs
  • Speeding
  • Fail to Have Insurance Card
  • Fail to Surrender Permit for Motor Vehicle

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste Marie on October 16, 2023.

The driver’s vehicle was impounded for seven days, and their driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.
