UPDATED – CHARGES LAID School Bus and Vehicle Collide

A passenger vehicle and a school bus collided Wednesday morning at the corner of Wellington Street east and Simpson Street.

Children were on the bus at the time of the collision, no injuries were reported.

The red passenger vehicle sustained extensive damage to the front end. Sault Ste. Marie Police were dispatched to the scene. A Sault Police spokesperson says a driver was following too close when their car collided into the rear end of a school bus. A 20-year-old driver has been charged with following too close under the Highway Traffic Act.

  1. And what about the charges laid? The school bus did not collide with anything, the daydreaming driver, who should not have even been behind the wheel ran into the back of it. This is an immediate careless driving charge.

  2. My question is always; I could be wrong but…..but do the young children have seatbelts on the schoolbusses? This is important because when I was a kid……..even last year a friend who drives bus for First Student told me there are no seatbelts for the kids……This is insane……..I am not deflecting the blame from the driver of the car or bus …………………………………….but…….let me know what the deal is……I hope the kids have to wear seatbelts…..if not……WOW
