On March 9, 2024, officers with Patrol Services charged 21-year-old Evan Grisdale with dangerous operation, refusal to comply with breath demands, and operation while prohibited.
Around 1:00 a.m., 911 Communicators received calls from the accused who was asking to be arrested on the strength of an Ontario Provincial Police warrant. Officers were dispatched to the accused’s residence; however, the accused had already driven away.
Officers located the accused driving at a high rate of speed on Peoples Road before turning left through a red light onto Wellington Street West without stopping. Officers conducted a traffic stop and, upon speaking with the accused, developed grounds to believe their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.
The accused refused to comply with multiple demands for a breath sample. They were arrested.
The accused is charged with:
- Dangerous Operation
- Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand
- Operation While Prohibited Under the Criminal Code x4
The accused refused to sign an undertaking and custody of the accused was transferred to Ontario Provincial Police.
