On July 1, 2023, officers with Patrol Services charged 48-year-old Charles Carricato with operation while impaired, possession for the purpose of trafficking, and several other charges. They also charged 24-year-old Alyssa Daynard with possession of a controlled substance.
Around 8:00 a.m., 911 Communicators received a report of a disturbance in the 700 block of Wellington Street East. Officers were dispatched to the location. Upon arrival, officers found two unresponsive people in a vehicle.
Police woke the driver, who they later identified as Carricato, and developed grounds to believe their ability to operate a vehicle was impaired. The driver refused to comply with a bodily substance screening demand.
Upon further investigation, officers found approximately nine grams of a substance believed to be fentanyl, approximately 14 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine, approximately 11 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine, and approximately four grams of a substance believed to be crack cocaine. Officers also found drug paraphernalia, including packaging material and a scale in the driver’s possession.
The passenger was found to be in possession of a small quantity of a substance believed to be fentanyl.
Both the driver and passenger were arrested. The driver is charged with:
- Possession for Purpose of Trafficking x3
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
- Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and/or Drug
- Failure or Refusal to Comply with Bodily Substance Screening Demand
The passenger is charged with:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
Both were released on an appearance notice and are scheduled to appear in court on August 28, 2023.
