On June 9, 2023, officers with Patrol Services charged 43-year-old Jason Stanaway of Negaunee, Michigan with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80+).
Around 4:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to the border after Canada Border Services Agency members notified police that they had intercepted a suspected impaired driver. Upon arrival, officers developed grounds to believe the driver’s ability to operate a vehicle was impaired by alcohol.
The accused was arrested and later provided two breath samples into an approved screening device. Both samples were above the legal limit.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on July 10, 2023.
