Hunters and Anglers rejoice! There is an event this weekend just for you!

St. Joseph Island Hunters and Anglers Outdoors and Gun Show

This Sunday, May 5th from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., the St. Joseph Island Hunters and Anglers Association is bringing back their annual Outdoors and Gun Show and this year it promises to be bigger and better than ever.

Hosted once again at the Johnson Township Community Centre Arena in Desbarats, there are roughly 100 vendors that will have tables set up both inside the arena as well as outside. With the focus remaining on local sources, the vendors are eager to showcase their wares which range from firearms, through hunting and fishing gear, as well as ATVs, boats and other outdoor equipment.

As always, entry is gained by making a cash donation to ensure that all are able to attend, no matter their financial means. As a reminder cash is required for raffles and many on-site purchase so make sure to bring some with you as there is no ATM at the arena. There is an ATM, however, at a nearby restaurant.

There are 3 outdoor themed presentations scheduled at 10 a.m, 11:30 a.m., and then at 1:30 p.m.

Truly a family friendly event, there are many free family activities to enjoy including Archery, Tomahawk Throwing, Rod Casting, and the newest addition — CO2 Powered Nerf Gun Shooting Gallery!

Food and beverages will be available throughout the day and there will also be raffles and draws providing the chance to win some truly fantastic prizes.

Taylor Scarr, president of the St. Joseph Island Hunters and Anglers Association, dropped by the First Local News studio to discuss this year’s event.

What are you doing on Sunday? This event is not to be missed!
