Heavy snow squall activity between Batchawana and Wawa continues to produce hazardous travel on Highway 17 north.
The Highway has been closed since yesterday and it remains closed Tuesday morning. The highway is closed in both directions.
Environment Canada says snow squalls and lake effect snow has reduced visibility in some areas to near zero. Snow squalls are expected to last most of the day and possibly into Wednesday morning.
The locks were supposed to close last night as well but we saw an up bound and a down bound freighter go through them this morning while out on our walk. I guess the weather maybe held them up, too?
