Flooding Possible Through Monday

Sault Ste. Marie missed out on the first wave of showers and heavy thunderstorms Saturday, but another low pressure system promises yet another chance of heavy rain.

Environment Canada has issued another Weather Statement regarding rainfall and thunderstorms beginning Sunday night and lasting through to late Monday if the forecast holds true.

A low pressure system will track primarily in the same pattern as another low Pressure system did Saturday. Most of the active weather including severe thunderstorms lined up over Michigan heading into the Nickel Belt area. This next low is expected however to track more west and giving the Sault the threat of rain and thunderstorms to the area. The ground, already near saturation, has little ability to absorb further rainfall.

Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

The Special Weather Statement covers all of the Algoma district.
