On March 5, 2024, detectives with the Drug Enforcement Unit and Crime Suppression Unit, with assistance from the Emergency Services Unit and Ontario Provincial Police, charged 30-year-old Nicholas Turmaine with several firearm offences.
Around 4:20 p.m. on February 18, 2024, officers executed a search warrant at the accused’s residence in the 600 block of Wellington Street East in connection with a firearms investigation. The search located 116 rounds of ammunition, a long gun, three different rifles, a sawed-off shotgun, and a double barrel shotgun. All items were seized. The accused was not located inside the residence. A warrant was obtained for their arrest.
On March 5, 2024, officers were dispatched to a suspicious person call in the 400 block of Pim Street. Upon arrival, officers located the accused, who provided a false identity. Officers recognized the suspect as the accused, and they were arrested.
The accused is charged with:
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm x5
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm x6
- Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device, or Ammunition x7
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
- Personation with Intent to Avoid Arrest, Prosecution, or Obstruct Justice
- Failure to Comply with Release Order – Other Than to Attend Court x8
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
The usual deadbeat catch and release suspects with a rap sheet a mile long. Jail not bail.
