On April 18, 2024, shortly before 4:00 p.m., the Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious single-vehicle collision at a business on Highway 17 in White River. The vehicle driver, a 68-year-old person from White River, was confirmed deceased following the collision.
Investigation has determined the driver suffered a medical emergency immediately prior to the collision, which caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.
The Superior East OPP was assisted by the North East and North West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (T.I.M.E.) teams, and the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
