On January 26, 2024, officers with Patrol Services charged 38-year-old Cory Sewell with operation while impaired and dangerous operation.

Around 6:30 p.m., officers patrolling the McNabb Street area came across a motor vehicle collision at Algoma Avenue. The vehicle had struck a guardrail, narrowly missing a bystander on the sidewalk. Officers located the driver walking around outside their vehicle and, upon speaking with them, developed grounds to believe their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.

The accused provided multiple breath samples into an Approved Screening Device, all of which registered as being above the legal limit. They were arrested.

The accused is charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Drug and/or Alcohol
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80+)
  • Dangerous Operation

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on February 26, 2024.
