Bridge Nesting Falcons Welcome Two Chicks So Far

The Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge Administration is pleased to see the return of their annual residents.

Karl Hansen, bridge engineer for the International Bridge Administration (IBA), reports that a pair of peregrines has laid three eggs in the U.S. side nest box. It appears two have been hatched as of Friday morning.

Nest boxes for the peregrines have been in place on the bridge since 2010. Over the years, the site has seen great success, hatching 39 falcon chicks since the staff started counting the birds.

Watching the nests has become a popular pastime for individuals and the IBA provides a live stream of the nesting box at www.saultbridge.com/falcam
