On June 28, 2023, officers with Patrol Services charged 40-year-old Ami Smith with breaking and entering.
Around 11:30 a.m., 911 Communicators received a report of a break and enter in the 300 block of John Street. Officers were dispatched to the residence. While investigating that break and enter, another was reported to have occurred just down the street involving the same suspect. The victims in both incidents caught the accused collecting items from their residences and the accused fled empty-handed.
After locating them nearby, officers identified them as the accused, and they were arrested.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on August 21, 2023.
