Tire Slasher also Charged With Arson

On May 10, 2024, detectives with Investigation Services charged 40-year-old Andrew Hay with arson and 14 mischief offences.

Between April 14 and April 21, 2024, 911 Communicators received reports of 45 tires being slashed on a total of 20 vehicles. One of these vehicles was also scratched with a key and had a bicycle placed on its hood. Another vehicle also appeared to have been kicked, causing damage.

The tire slashings occurred in the 0-100 block of St. Andrews Terrace, the 0-100 block of St. George’s Avenue, the 100 block of St. George’s Avenue, the 300 block of North Street, the 400 block of North Street, the 200 block of Albert Street, the 0-100 block of Pardee Avenue, the 0-100 block of Spruce Street, and the 300 block of Wellington Street West. An investigation revealed the accused was involved in these occurrences.

The accused was also suspected of causing a garage fire on April 13, 2024, in the 0-100 block of St. Andrews Terrace. No physical injuries were sustained from the fire.

On May 10, 2024, the accused attended the Police Services Building, and they were arrested.

The accused is charged with:

  • Arson
  • Mischief Under $5,000 x14

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on July 8, 2024.
