The City of Sault Ste. Marie invites local sports leaders and clubs to learn about hosting local sports tournaments and championships in the community.

Learn how to access funding from the Tourism Development Fund, and Northern Ontario Heritage Fund, meet with staff, and discuss how to elevate athlete stays, bid development, and host championships that shine the spotlight on the community.
In 2023 the Tourism Development Fund supported 25 events with a total of $308,330 and successfully partnered with local sports groups to host tournaments such as the Northeast Regional Ringette Tournament, the Ontario Youth Nordic Ski Championships, and the Ontario Baseball Championships.
