Soo Routes Saginaw 5-0 to force Game 7/Rogers TV Bombs Again

By “E” Special to FirstLocalNews

The Soo Greyhounds deflated all the air in the Saginaw locker room last night after posting a commanding 5-0 win. The Hounds got great goaltending from Charlie Schenkle and clutch performances from their leaders.

Since returning after what would appear to be a concussion suffered in Game one of the Guelph series; team top scorer (regular season) Jack Back has 4 points in two games. With another strong scoring line with the return of Beck some weight has been lifted off of the top line and here we are.

Going into Game 7 on Tuesday in Saginaw it would appear that the Hounds have the momentum and for good reason; not only have the Hounds limited Saginaw to only 2 regulation goals in the last three games but they also have a slight advantage as injury and discipline problems have cut the Spirit lineup by at least two main players for Tuesdays tilt. It would appear that D man James Guo will be suspended for Tuesdays game for a crosscheck to the head of Travis Hayes and star forward Zayne Parekh will miss Tuesdays game due to what appears to be an aggravated injury. He missed a game earlier in the series due to “illness” and after falling into the boards with a Hound player last night he had to be helped off the ice. I would guess that Lazary would error on the side of caution with Parekh as Saginaw can go in through the front or back door to the Memorial Cup. As hosts; even if they lose to the Hounds tomorrow night they will appear in the tournament.

It’s going to be a great game tomorrow night and let’s hope that the Hounds win and go on to face the London Knights in Round 3.

Once again ROGERS TV BOMBED with their broadcast coverage. Time after time after time this year and in recent years that company has taken money from paying customers and not delivered the product. Last night people watching the game were treated to Technical Difficulties for 99% of the first period. This is not acceptable. I know they employ Volunteers to get experience and it’s not the their fault. The fault lies with Rogers and not having someone with experience there beside them to immediately troubleshoot problems. There is no excuse as this has been an ongoing problem. Thank God that there was another camera feed in the building so fans from SSM, Saginaw and Ontario could watch the final two periods. Rogers needs a good kick in the pants for this one; again…..not the volunteers but the management who is not managing their product.

Go Hounds Go

  1. UPDATE : It sounds like there will be no suspension to James Guo as GM Raftis has received word that the league admits two recent mistakes; one is that there should have been a goal awarded on Friday night when Owen Allard was tripped on a breakaway and the puck slid into the net with him………….and two; the league admits that James Guo should have received a 5 minute penalty for checking Travis Hayes in the head on Monday. I have not seen anything posted on the OHL website about a suspension so it doesn’t appear it will happen…..Logic doesn’t seem to apply.
