DEARBORN, Mich. – With the state average dropping 6 cents per gallon over last week, drivers in some areas of Michigan may notice a slight drop in price at the gas pump.

According to AAA of Michigan, the average cost to drivers per gallon of regular unleaded gas is $2.96. This recent drop in price is said to be the result of lower demand along with rising gas stocks. Additionally, the state average is also lower than the national average which rose 2 cents from a week ago and now sits at $3.10 per gallon.

Around the U.P., the lowest average can be found in Gogebic, Houghton, and Alger counties at $2.83 per gallon while the highest average is in Chippewa County at $3.15 per gallon.
