Sexual assault investigation leads to charges

(CHAPLEAU, ON) – A Chapleau resident is facing criminal charges as a result of a historical sexual assault investigation. On January 11, 2024, shortly before 11:00 a.m., the Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a domestic disturbance on Martin Road in Chapleau.

As a result of the investigation, a 52-year-old person from Chapleau was arrested and charged with three counts of Sexual Assault.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in March 2024 in Chapleau. Due to the domestic nature of the incident, the name of the accused will not be released to protect the identity of the victim.
