Sault OPP Lay Multiple Charges

On July 26, 2023, shortly after 10:30 p.m., members from the Sault Ste Marie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a weapons call at a residence on Bear Creek Drive in the community of Batchewana First Nation.

Investigation determined two individuals attended that residence, forced their way through a basement window into the home, threatened the victim with an edged weapon and stole a cell phone.

A short time later, police located the two suspects at a residence on Waabung Street within the community of Batchewana First Nation and made two arrests.

As a result, Ashton BJORNAA, 19 years-of-age from Batchewana First Nation was charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Utter Threats-Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  • Mischief Under $5000
  • Break, Enter Dwelling House-Commit Indictable Offence

Brandon PELLOW, 18 years-of-age, from Sault Ste Marie was charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Utter Threats-Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  • Mischief Under $5000
  • Break, Enter Dwelling House-Commit Indictable Offence

The two accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste Marie on August 21, 2023.

  1. What an extremely brain dead thing to do for such a trivial pay off, especially when they knew someone was home. Parents need to snap out of it and stop ignoring their kids growing up and letting them run wild which often ruins any future that they may have had, along with a criminal record.
