Rolland operates while impaired

drinking-and-driving

On January 29, 2024, officers with Patrol Services charged 37-year-old Rolland Karalash with operation while impaired.

Shortly after midnight, 911 Communicators received a report of someone who had been drinking a large quantity of alcohol at a business in the 300 block of Lake Street driving away in their vehicle. Officers were dispatched to the area and located the vehicle after an extensive search. Officers saw the vehicle driver across a center median on Wellington Street East near Trunk Road before noticeably overcorrecting by swerving in the opposite direction.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and, upon speaking with the driver, developed grounds to believe their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. They were arrested.

The accused provided multiple breath samples into an approved screening device, all of which registered as being above the legal limit.

The accused is charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Drug and/or Alcohol
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80+)

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on March 11, 2024.
