On June 30, 2023, officers with Patrol Services charged 23-year-old Jacey Brown with six assault offences, including assault of a peace officer.
Around 11:00 p.m., 911 Communicators received a report of an assault in the 300 block of Bloor Street West. The suspect, later identified as the accused, was wanted for failing to attend court. Officers were dispatched to the location, and upon arrival, located the suspect.
After identifying them as the accused, they were arrested. As an officer was placing the accused into the cruiser, the accused kicked the officer.
Further investigation into the reported assault revealed that the accused had thrown a bottle at a victim, who is known to the accused, before hitting them on the head with another bottle. The accused slapped a second victim, who is also known to them.
Once taken into custody at the Police Services Building, the accused kicked two other officers multiple times.
The accused is charged with:
- Assault of a Peace Officer x3
- Assault with a Weapon
- Assault x2
The accused was held in custody pending an appearance in Weekend and Statutory Holiday court.
