PACIAK, Walter Joseph

(1935-2024) – Passed away on April 26, 2024 at the Sault Area Hospital. He was 88. Walter was the loving son of the late Bernard and Yolanda “Yula” Paciak (nee Mancuso). He is survived by numerous cousins. He lived on Letcher Street for many years. Walter worked at Algoma Steel, primarily as a rail car repairman. He loved fishing for trout, including rainbow and speckled, to eat. His favourite lakes included Hough, Kerwin, McGovern, Robertson and Turkey. He previously owned a camp on Sand Bay in Goulais. Calling Walter a coureur de bois brought a smile to his face. Walter enjoyed going for rides north of Sault Ste. Marie. He was an avid stock investor. Walter liked driving his Jaguar, playing cribbage and watching the NHL playoffs. Many thanks to his friend Jerry ‘Jake’ DeRosario and Sault Area Hospital 3A staff for their help and care of Walter. 

At Walter’s request, no services will be held. Inurnment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery next to Walter’s parents will take place at a later date. Memorial donations to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
