On June 27, 2023, officers with Patrol Services charged 35-year-old Matthew Lafontaine with operation while impaired.

Around 2:30 a.m., officers conducted a routine traffic stop on Railroad Avenue after observing a vehicle that did not have the taillights on. Upon speaking with the driver, later identified as the accused, officers developed grounds to believe their ability to operate a vehicle was impaired by alcohol.

The accused was arrested and later provided two samples into an approved screening device. Both samples were above the legal limit.

The accused is charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80+)
  • Operate Motor Vehicle – No Insurance (under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act)

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on July 24, 2023.
