Man Arrested For Threatening Child With Knife

On June 3, 2024, officers with Patrol Services charged 64-year-old Ian McKinley with assault with a weapon and uttering threats.

Around 2:00 p.m., 911 Communicators received a report of someone on a bicycle threatening a child with a knife in the 400 block of Pim Street. Officers were dispatched to the area and located the accused, who matched the description of the suspect, in the 100 block of Poplar Avenue. The accused was arrested without incident. A subsequent search of the accused found them to be in possession of a pocketknife.

Officers also located the victim, and an investigation revealed the accused had brandished the pocketknife while uttering threats at them. No physical injuries were sustained.

The accused is charged with:

  • Assault With Weapon
  • Uttering Threats

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on August 12, 2024.
