Mackinac Bridge no longer accepting Canadian cash at toll booths

As a result of limited use and exchange expenses, the Mackinac Bridge Authority has announced that it will no longer accept Canadian cash at toll booths.

Specifically, when receiving Canadian cash, the MBA must obtain conversion rates from two separate banks. They must further pay for an armored truck to transport the cash and plus wire fees after selecting a bank based on the rates.

People utilizing Canadian currency generally pay twice the amount in US dollars due to these charges and the conversion rate.
