More details have surfaced surrounding a Sault Ste. Marie man who is accused of murdering a woman in the U.S. Officials with the Los Angeles Police and Sheriff’s departments released yesterday.
Jeffery Gary Primeau was arrested on Feb. 9 in connection with a murder that allegedly occurred almost three months earlier, on Nov. 22, 2023. His bail was set at $2 million and his next court appearance is scheduled for March 14. LA police have not released the identity of the homicide victim. According to police reports, the victim was his girlfriend. CTV News confirmed.
Primeau confessed to the murder to the L.A. County Sheriff Department on February 9th.
Following his confession, police were directed to an RV parked near the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), where they discovered the woman’s body, which had significantly decomposed. The vehicle was immediately seized for a thorough investigation.
Primeau tried to run as a candidate in the last municipal election in Sault Ste. Marie but failed to obtain the signatures required to get his name on the ballot for Mayor. He was an employed as an insulator and asbestos worker at Algoma Steel.
Primeau would often take to social media to chronicle his RV adventures with a woman named Ashley Strnad. It has not been confirmed if Strnad was his girlfriend.
Several National media outlets reported that Primeau admitted to killing his girlfriend in self-defense after she allegedly threatened him with a knife on November 22.
The decomposed body of the woman was allegedly found in an RV near the LA International Airport by the police and Primeau was arrested.
According to the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department, Primeau is being held at Twin Towers Correctional Facility – the largest mental health facility in the U.S.
