International Bridge Walk Returns on Saturday!

A summer-time ritual returns on Saturday with the International Bridge Walk between the two “Soo’s”

The walk hasn’t taken place since 2019 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The walk starts at Lake Superior State University’s Norris Center at 9 a.m

In order to participate, U.S. and Canadian Citizens must comply with WHTI (Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative) regulations. Participants must have one of the following pieces of identification with them during the walk , a valid passport, a valid Nexus card or a valid Enhanced Driver’s License.

Participants 15 and younger MUST be accompanied by an adult and must have a copy of their birth certificate. It is the responsibility of the participant to ensure they have the required identification

No animals are permitted, with the SOLE exception of service dogs. For safety reasons, roller-blades, roller-skates or skateboards are not permitted.

Pre-Walk Bussing (from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan) will load at The Marconi Cultural Event Centre (450 Albert Street W.)  Walkers will be transported to the Norris Center in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Busses will begin transporting at 7am. Bus cost: $10 per person / $20 per family. The Bridge Walk begins at 9:00am SHARP, weather permitting. Umbrella strollers will be the only strollers allowed on busses.

The International Bridge Walk began in 1987 celebrating the international friendship between Sault Ontario and Sault Michigan. The event is a co-sponsorship the Chamber of Commerce on both sides of the river.
