On December 14, 2023, officers with Patrol Services charged 52-year-old Wanda Roy with operation while impaired, dangerous operation, and refusal to comply with a breath demand.
Around 8:00 p.m., 911 Communicators received a report of a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Bay Street and Dennis Street in which one vehicle rear-ended another at a red light. Officers were dispatched to the scene and spoke with the driver of the vehicle that hit the other. Upon speaking with the driver, who identified themselves as the accused, officers developed grounds to believe their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.
Officers attempted to get the accused to provide a breath sample into an Approved Screening Device three times and the accused failed to provide a suitable sample. They were arrested and refused later demands for a sample.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on January 15, 2024.
