Hyundai Motors North America has recalled 63,128 vehicles in Canada and the United States for safety reasons.

The vehicles are being recalled as a precautionary measure due to a problem with the transmission electronic oil pump for the Idle Stop & Go System (ISG), which could result in a fire.

Owners of impacted vehicles can continue to drive them, but they should park them outdoors and away from structures until the recall remedy is done.

The recall affects model year 2023-24 Hyundai Palisade vehicles as well as model year 2023 Tucson, Sonata, Elantra, and Kona vehicles sold in the United States and Canada.

  1. With the insane prices of new vehicles these days the companies need to be extra careful about producing sub-par products with flaws. This is something that could hurt any one of their bottom lines, hugely.
It used to be rust issues, now it’s mechanical ones, like internal water pumps that can easily take out the entire engine in seconds from a failure.
Not sure if other companies use internal water pumps, but it certainly wasn’t one of Ford’s better ideas. If you are ever in the market and you are looking at Ford products (and others), make sure what you are looking at does not have an internal water pump.
