On August 8, 2023, officers with Patrol Services charged 40-year-old Harry Challenger with dangerous operation.
On July 30, 2023, patrol officers observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed drive through a red light on Wallace Terrace at Korah Road. When officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle drove faster. The driver sped away from police through business areas and suburbs, endangering patrons and pedestrians, before pulling into a driveway and fleeing on foot. Officers were unable to locate the driver at that time and a warrant was sought.
On August 8, 2023, officers conducted a traffic stop of the same vehicle on Douglas Street. The driver, identified as the accused, was arrested on the strength of the warrant issued for the incident in July.
The accused is charged with:
- Dangerous Operation
- Fail to Stop (under the Highway Traffic Act)
- Red Light – Fail to Stop (under the Highway Traffic Act)
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on October 23, 2023.
