Helping Hands Sault Ste Marie Addresses Leadership Change

HELPING HANDS

Helping Hands Sault Ste Marie, a committed non-profit organization serving the community for Ten years, has accepted the resignation of its President and founder, Wendy Gutcher.

We deeply respect Ms. Gutcher’s contribution to initiating Helping Hands as an informal group of volunteers and acknowledge her foundational role in our early successes. With her vision, Helping Hands has grown into a thriving charity with an ever-widening scope of work.

As Helping Hands transitioned into a registered charity, necessary changes were implemented to meet the required standards of accounting, accountability, and procedural due diligence. The shift from a volunteer-driven model to a structured charity brings with it increased responsibilities, including legal, financial, and operational requirements.

Elizabeth MacMillan, Interim Chairperson of Helping Hands, stated, “Wendy’s vision and spirit will always be an integral part of our story. As we move forward, our utmost priority remains the welfare of our community and ensuring that our organization meets all regulatory standards.”

Board Member Robert Peace, added, “Every organization goes through changes, especially as it grows. We, as a board, are committed to ensuring that Helping Hands continues to thrive and serve our community while upholding the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability.”

The board remains dedicated to preserving the legacy of Helping Hands and will continue to act in the best interests of the charity and the community it serves.

We thank our partners, volunteers, and community members for their unwavering support and trust.
