Heavy Snowfall Warning For the Sault

Environment Canada has now issued a heavy snowfall warning for the Sault Ste. Marie area starting today. The Sault also remains under a winter storm watch.

There’s a possibility of up to 20cm for the city of Sault Ste. Marie. Heavy snowfall associated with a major winter storm is expected to begin affecting northeastern Ontario today, with the worst conditions expected tonight into Wednesday morning. Locally reduced visibility in blowing snow is also possible.

The timing of the system and the track of the storm will push light snow into the area by this afternoon, becoming heavy snow beginning this evening and during the overnight. Blowing and drifting snow may add to local accumulations.

Another significant storm is also developing for this weekend, where another 20 to 30cm is forecast.

  1. I AGREE….take a look at the radar…it looks like the bulk of the storm will just brush the east end of the city. Wow…when we were kids 20 cm was not considered a STORM…It seems every time we get a few inches it is a storm..lol
