It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our dad, Richard passed away suddenly on December 28, 2023 in Casa Grande, Arizona. He was born September 25, 1935 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, the first son of (the late) Ernie and Mildred Greene. Cherished father of Pam, Marcia DeMarco (Bill), Nancy and Sandra (Rene Struik). Adored Grandfather/Gramps of Michael Yakasovich (Cara), Kaitlyn Davies (Tom), David DeMarco (Ramata), and Domenic DeMarco. Step-grandfather of Bill DeMarco (Kristie) and Andrea DeMarco and their families. Great-Grandfather of Jimmy and Teddy Yakasovich and Russell DeMarco-Tarawally. Dear friend and companion of Lynn Schenk. Beloved brother of the late Gayle Russon (the late Jack), Sharon Dick (Paul), Randy and the late Ron. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Dad grew up in the Soo and worked at Algoma Steel. He enjoyed sports (mostly as a spectator, umpire or referee). He loved RVing and the community it brought to his life. He was free-spirited and a million laughs- always quick with a joke. Although Dad was 88, he was still completely sharp and physically active right up to the end. Wherever he is now, we hope he is enjoying being the life of the party, while we are left to cherish the memories.
As per Dad’s wishes, cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Neptune Society of Arizona. A Celebration of Life will be held in Sault Ste. Marie in the coming months.
