Food Drive Kicks Off June 13

Weekly Food Drives This Summer at St. Vincent Place

The Soup Kitchen Community Centre and St. Vincent Place are teaming up to fight hunger in Sault Ste.
Marie with the Help Us Can Hunger food drive.

From June 13 to 15, they’re partnering with several local businesses and organizations to give you a ton of
convenient opportunities to drop off your nonperishable donations and help to stock the food bank
shelves ahead of the summer months when donations decline sharply but the need for services
continues.

For the full three days of the drive, you’ll be able to drop off your donations at: Starbucks Great Northern
Road, Starbucks Trunk Road, James L. McIntyre Centennial Library, Sault Ste. Marie Public Library – North
Branch, Northern Credit Union, Lyon’s Timber Mart – Black Road, Lyon’s Timber Mart – Wellington
Street, Spark Rehabilitation Services, HiWay Variety Outfitters, YNCU Bay Street, and YNCU Trunk Road.
Great news for Thursday grocery shoppers, you’ll be able to drop your donations off on Thursday, June
13 at the following grocery stores: Pino’s Get Fresh, Food Basics – Trunk Road, Food Basics – Pine Plaza,
Rome’s Independent Grocer, Metro – Market Mall, and Metro – Northern Ave.

They’re also happy to add that they will have several drive-thru donation options around town on Friday, June14, thanks in large part to the support of local high schools! Drop off your donations without getting out of your vehicle at: Soup Kitchen Community Centre (10am-4pm), St. Vincent Place (10am-4pm), St.
Mary’s College (8am-4:45pm), and Korah Collegiate (8:30am-4:45pm).

In addition to these amazingly supportive partners, the Station Mall is expanding Help Us Can Hunger
even further, running their collection from June 8 to 15! Donors can help to fill a Hyundai Santa Cruz
from World Cars Hyundai by bringing their donations to the guest services kiosk at the mall. Each
donation made equals an entry into a draw to win one of three Station Mall gift cards!

To help ensure the success of the Help Us Can Hunger food drive, they’re in need of several volunteers on
both June 13 and 14. To learn more about how you can help, visit www.vincentplacessm.ca/canhunger
