The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is assisting the Ontario Fire Marshall and the Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario with an investigation into a fatal fire.
On December 13, 2023, around 9:00 p.m. 911 Communicators received reports of a fire at an abandoned residence in the 200 block of Huron Street. Officers were dispatched and on arrival the house was fully engulfed in flames.
Once Fire Services extinguished the fire, two people were located, deceased, inside the residence.
The fire is not believed to be criminal.
Officers remain on scene as the investigation is ongoing.
