Driver Charged with Assault and Dangerous Operation

On April 12, 2024, officers with Patrol Services charged 42-year-old Alexander Allen of Toronto, Ontario, with assault and dangerous operation.

Around 8:45 p.m. on April 11, 911 Communicators received a report of a vehicle being sideswiped by a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) on Black Road and the CMV driver assaulting the victim.

Investigation revealed the CMV had swerved when passing the victim, making contact with their vehicle. This damaged the victim’s vehicle and caused it to drive onto the curb. The driver of the CMV continued to drive away until stopped by the victim. The CMV driver then exited their vehicle and punched the victim before driving away again. The victim did not sustain any physical injuries.

The CMV driver attended the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service around 4:00 a.m. on April 12 and identified themselves. They were arrested.

The accused is charged with:

  • Assault
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Failure to Remain (Under the Highway Traffic Act)

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on June 10, 2024.
