Crime Stoppers Ups Rewards For Wanted Wednesday Suspects

Crime Stoppers of Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District Inc. is excited to announce a special incentive in honor of thier anniversary month. Throughout June, tips submitted through the Wanted Wednesday initiative that lead to the arrest of a suspect will be eligible for a minimum reward of $500, as authorized by their Board of Directors.

June 20, 2024, marks the 39th anniversary of Crime Stoppers of Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District Inc. Since their founding on June 20, 1985, they have been committed to promoting community safety by encouraging public participation in crime-solving efforts. Over the years, they have removed over $7.7 million worth of illegal drugs from our streets, recovered more than $3.9 million in stolen property, and seized numerous illegal weapons. They have received over 30,000 tips from the public, leading to 4,486 arrests and the approval of over $500,000 in rewards for tipsters.

Crime Stoppers is not a law enforcement agency and does not conduct investigations. Instead, it serves as a conduit for the public to provide information to help solve past, present, and future crimes, including locating wanted persons, missing persons, narcotics, stolen property, and other criminal activities.

Details of the Guaranteed Reward Initiative:

What: A $500 reward for tips leading to the arrest of suspects featured in Wanted Wednesday posts.

When: The entire month of June 2024.

How: Submit tips through the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-222-8477, via the website at www.saultcrimestoppers.com, or by downloading the P3 app.
