City Wide STEM Fair Organizers to Host Info Session

Rotary Algoma STEM Fair Information Session will take place on February 22nd

The Rotary Club of Sault Ste Marie invites students from grades 7-12, parents, and educators to an information session for their upcoming regional STEM Fair. The session will be held on February 22nd, at 7pm in the Russ Ramsay Room at City Hall.

“This is an ideal opportunity for students, parents and educators to learn more about the fair,” shared Dr. Dante Carlascio, Chair of the event. “If you’ve always been curious about a specific idea and want to turn that into a scientific project, this is a great venue to get those wheels turning.”

The Rotary Algoma STEM Fair provides a platform for students to explore their interests in science, technology, engineering, and math; and develops critical thinking and problem-solving skills. A student’s project can be one or more experiments designed to answer a particular question from the fair’s seven challenge areas: discovery, energy, environment, health, information, innovation, and resources.

“We are excited and optimistic to see what innovative projects students will be interested in exploring this year.” added Dr. Carlascio.

The fair will take place from April 11th to 13th at the George Leach Centre. Participants will have the opportunity to win prizes and scholarships; and top entries will qualify for Canada Wide Science Fair, held in Ottawa this June.

Student registration for the April fair is now open online at www.algomascience.ca.
