Charity Hockey Classic once again seeks to give kids a Jumpstart

Once again the Charity Hockey Classic is back here in the Sault and it is bigger and better than ever. The annual event is supporting Canadian Tire’s Jumpstart program. The Jumpstart program supports children from all financial means in participating in recreational sport by covering the costs of registrations and purchase of the equipment necessary to play.

This program stays 100% local, with Canadian Tire absorbing the administration costs to ensure that this goal is met.

The event coordinator, Albert Williams, stopped by the First Local News studio to discuss how the event has grown and what attendees at the event can expect this year.

The tournament runs Feb 23-25 at the John Rhodes arena. Admission is by donation, and donations $20 and over get you a tax receipt.

Even the players are raising money by getting “player pledges”.
