Charges Laid In $70 Million Lottery Ticket Claim

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Investigation and Enforcement Bureau has laid charges in relation to an OLG suspicious win investigation.

 On July 17, 2023, members of the Investigation and Enforcement Bureau, attached to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) received information from OLG Corporate Investigations concerning a ticket claim submitted for a $70 million dollar Lotto Max prize.

 The investigation resulted in an arrest and Criminal Code charges.

 Sonya DEERING, age 33 of North Bay, is charged with:

  • Attempt Fraud Over $5000
  • Forgery
  • Utter Forged Document

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay at a later date.

 The investigation into this matter is ongoing.
