On November 22, 2023, officers with Patrol Services charged 34-year-old Svante Appelkvist with assault and resisting a peace officer.
Around 6:00 p.m., a victim attended the Police Services Building to report an assault. They told police the suspect, who is known to them, ran away on Second Line East. Officers were dispatched and located the accused nearby. When police advised the accused, they were under arrest, they continued attempting to run away and resist arrest. Officers were able to gain physical control of the accused and they were arrested.
A subsequent search of the accused found them to be in possession of approximately five grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine.
The accused is charged with:
- Assault
- Assault – Choking
- Resisting Peace Officer
- Possession of Schedule I Substance
- Failure to Comply with Undertaking
The accused is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
