Canada dropped to third place in Group B as Ireland and Nigeria played to a scoreless tie. With the victory, Australia wins the group and advances to the knockout round, where it will play the group’s runner-up.
The Matildas had a commanding lead in the first half thanks to two goals from Hayley Raso. In the 58th minute, Mary Fowler made it 3-0, and in extra time, Stephanie Catley scored on a penalty.
Canada finished with three shots on goal while Australia got six.
