Big Storm To Impact Northeastern Ontario

heavy snow

Parts of northeastern  Ontario could see heavy snowfall and blowing snow associated with a major winter on Tuesday, with the worst conditions most likely Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Total snowfall amounts of 15 to 30 cm will be possible. Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for areas east of Sault Ste. Marie including Thessalon , Elliot Lake and Blind River and easterly into the Nickel Belt.

Northeast winds gusting up to 60 km/h will result in areas of blowing snow giving poor visibility at times.

At present, Sault Ste. Marie is not included in the storm warning, however that could change quickly depending on the exact track of the storm. Both Sault Ontario and Sault Michigan will see about 5cm accumulation with strong winds developing Tuesday night.
