Further to FirstLocalNews.com’s story on the major crime investigation on the boardwalk Thursday. Sault Ste. Marie Police Services confirm that it was a stabbing.
On September 7, 2023, officers with Patrol Services charged 25-year-old Steven Jones with attempted murder.
Around 1:00 p.m., 911 Communicators received multiple calls regarding a person being stabbed on the boardwalk. Upon arrival officers located the victim and they were transported to hospital with life threatening injuries. The victim and the accused are not known to each other.
Police located the suspect, who they identified as the accused, nearby and they were arrested.
The accused is charged with:
- Attempt to Commit Murder
The accused is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
