On May 29, 2024, officers with Patrol Services charged 29-year-old Daniel Niimki-Matinet with assault and mischief.
Around 12:50 p.m., 911 Communicators received a report of a shoplifter assaulting a security officer at a business in the 0-100 block of Great Northern Road. An investigation revealed the accused had pushed a security officer when they were approached about trying to leave the business without attempting to pay for their items. Officers were dispatched to the business, and they were arrested.

Around 10:20 p.m., 911 Communicators received a report of mischief at a business in the 200 block of Great Northern Road. Although the accused had left prior to officers’ arrival, an investigation revealed they had intentionally scratched two vehicles in the parking lot after being asked to leave the business for causing a disturbance. The accused was located in the 200 block of McNabb Street, and they were arrested.
