On August 3, 2023, officers with Patrol Services charged 29-year-old Joseph Fabiano with operation while impaired, among other offences.
Around 4:30 p.m., 911 Communicators received a report of a driver sleeping at the wheel in a parking lot in the 1200 block of Wellington Street East. Upon arrival, officers observed an unconscious person in the driver’s seat of a running vehicle. The driver had a bag of what appeared to be methamphetamine in their lap.
Officers escorted the driver, who they identified as the accused, out of the vehicle and they were arrested. A subsequent search found the accused to be in possession of approximately four grams of what is believed to be fentanyl. The bag found in their lap contained approximately eight grams of what is believed to be methamphetamine. The street value of the drugs seized is estimated to be more than $2,400. The driver refused to comply with a bodily substance screening demand.
The accused is charged with:
- Operation While Impaired (Drug and/or Alcohol)
- Failure or Refusal to Comply with Bodily Substance Screening Demand
- Possession of Schedule I Substance x2
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on October 16, 2023.
