One more charged with impaired on Manitoulin

(BILLINGS TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged another driver with impaired driving.

On August 17, 2023, shortly after 11:00 a.m., the Manitoulin OPP responded to a traffic complaint on McQuarrie Road in Billings Township on Manitoulin Island.

Police were able to locate the vehicle and upon speaking with the driver, police determined the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages. The driver was arrested and transported back to the OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Andy ROY, 72-years-old, from Sudbury has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on September 13, 2023.

The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
